The tour begins with a 30-minute 4×4 ride into the lush tropical rainforest surrounding the Arenal Volcano. A short jaunt along a forested trail leads to the first waterfall, where you’ll repel down the waterfall into the gorgeous canyon below. In total, you’ll descend five rappels, four of which are along side or right in waterfalls and one dry rock face.
After completing this invigorating adventure, there will be a short trek out of the canyon before hopping back into the 4×4s that will take you to the Balsa River. You will then launch off into the water and enjoy approximately two exhilarating hours of white water action. After surging through the rapids known as “Magnetic Rock” and “Dredges,” you will reach the San Carlos Bridge where you can swim, sip cold drinks, and snack on tropical fruit. A hearty Costa Rican lunch will mark the end of your journey before you are transported back to your hotel.
What to bring: Fast drying clothes, swimsuit, adventure sandals or light hiking boots, camera or video (dry bags are provided), change of clothes, towel, and sunscreen.
